26 year old wanting to start karting

Hi,

Im 26 years old & have been looking at karting for a while now, I have been once for a mates birthday at wessex raceway & loved every minute of it.
I have been waiting to get the funds & have just been reading about it but i am unsure of where to start still,
I was originally looking at rotax max senior 177 but have lost 2.5 stone since the beginning of this year & am now only a little over 12 stone (about 77kg),
I was wondering what are the weights of the karts on there own or do they vary, is the normal rotax best for me now?
Clay pigeon is the closest track to me, i am in Poole, i came to one of your race meetings in December but it was so cold i couldnt stay long enough (i stupidly wore shorts that day) to get any decent info off of anyone.
Is it a good idea to buy a cheap 2 stroke track day kart off of ebay for example (as i see they are not going for very much, a couple of hundred) & just get loads of practice in & learn my way around a kart? (I have some good mechanical ability, i had a tzr125R 2 stroke motorbike for a little while, do some of my own servicing on my car & i was an engineer so i think i will hopefully be ok as a DIY mechanic,)
& then hopefully when i have enough i can buy a proper race kart & get my license?
Or shall i wait & get a rotax straight away & not waste money on a 100cc 2 stroke? I figured getting a run down, cheaper one i can spend time learning the kart sooner,
As i said, its more feasible to spend a few hundred pounds now than £1500+ on a rotax, but is there any point & should i just wait.
Anything will help guys,
thanks,
Jamie
